Buying Guide: What to Look For
Key Factors to Consider for STR Use
When choosing soap dispensers for your short-term rental (STR), consider these factors to ensure a blend of practicality and aesthetics:
1. Durability and Material: Select dispensers made from high-quality materials that can withstand frequent use and potential mishaps with cleaning products. Stainless steel or sturdy plastics are your best bet.
2. Refillable vs. Disposable: Moving away from single-use plastics not only reduces environmental impact but also cuts costs on constant replacements. Look for dispensers with easy-to-refill features.
3. Design and Fit: The dispenser should complement your property’s style. A modern touchless dispenser might clash with a vintage-themed home.
4. Ease of Use: Your guests should effortlessly be able to figure out the dispenser. At times, guests can be in a rush, and you don't want bathroom amenities to be a frustration point.
5. Installation: For wall-mounted options, consider how easy they are to install. Some properties might not allow complex installations, or you might want to avoid damages to walls.
Budget Recommendations by Property Type
- Luxury Properties: Opt for premium options like the AiKE AK1205, which adds a sleek, sophisticated touch.
- Mid-range Listings: The Simplehuman Triple Wall-Mount Shower Pump offers a balance of form and eco-conscious function.
- Budget-Friendly Stays: The Umbra Otto Automatic Soap Dispenser is a standout choice for those mindful of expenses.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
1. Overlooking Size and Placement: Make sure the dispenser doesn’t overpower your sink area. Also, ensure it doesn't block or crowd other amenities.
2. Skipping Regular Maintenance: Empty dispensers or malfunctioning ones can leave a poor impression. Regularly check and refill to maintain guest satisfaction.
3. Ignoring User Feedback: Pay attention to guest feedback. If they mention difficulty or issues with the dispenser, take it into account for future purchases.
Maintenance/Replacement Tips
- Regular Cleaning: Wipe down with mild soap to prevent buildup, especially in automatic dispensers.
- Check Batteries: For automatic dispensers, regularly check and replace batteries to ensure functionality.
- Refill Strategically: During each cleaning, refill to prevent running out between guest stays.
