Congrats on the first booking! Here's my pre-arrival checklist that I still use after 200+ guests: **24 hours before:** - Fresh linens on all beds, towels folded and displayed - Walk through every room as if you're the guest — open every drawer, check every light switch - Test WiFi speed (guests WILL complain if it's slow) - Check smoke/CO detectors - Restock consumables: toilet paper, paper towels, soap, coffee, tea - Set thermostat to a comfortable temp - Leave a welcome note with guest's name **Day of:** - Quick vacuum/mop of main areas - Make sure all lights work - Double-check smart lock code is set and working - Fresh flowers or a small welcome snack (optional but gets mentioned in reviews) - Send a message: "Hi [name]! Everything's ready for you. Here's the check-in info..." The secret: it doesn't need to be perfect. It needs to be clean, comfortable, and well-communicated. Guests are way more forgiving than you think — especially if you're responsive and friendly.

The most underrated first-guest tip: do a practice check-in yourself. Go outside, lock the door, and go through the entire check-in process using only the instructions you've provided. If anything is confusing, fix it. I create my check-in instructions using the house manual generator at https://strspecialist.com/tools/house-manual-generator — it helps you think of things you'd otherwise forget. Then I test it myself. Also — relax. Your first guest will probably be great. Most Airbnb guests are normal, respectful people who just need a place to sleep.
