Turned on Instant Book 2 years ago and my bookings increased by about 40% within the first month. The algorithm boost is real and significant. **Pros:** - Dramatically better search visibility - Guests prefer it (no waiting for approval = they book and move on) - Faster bookings = more reviews = higher ranking - You can still set requirements (verified ID, previous positive reviews, etc.) **Cons:** - Occasionally get guests you might have screened out - Less opportunity for pre-booking conversation - Can feel like you have less control **My tip:** Turn it on but use these safety nets: 1. Require verified government ID 2. Require a positive review from a previous host (for experienced guests) 3. Set clear house rules so guests self-select 4. Use a guest screening tool like Alertify (https://alertify.io) for an extra layer I've had maybe 2 problematic guests in 2 years with Instant Book on. The revenue increase far outweighs the occasional headache.

I host a shared space (private room in my home) and I do NOT use Instant Book. When someone is literally sleeping under my roof, I want to chat with them first. For whole-home listings, Instant Book makes total sense. For shared spaces, I'd keep it off and use the inquiry as a vetting tool. Different situations call for different approaches.
