Woodworking! 🪵 I started making cutting boards as a hobby and now I leave a handmade cutting board as a welcome gift in each of my STR properties. Guests mention it in reviews, it costs me $15 in materials, and it's genuinely relaxing. Hosting complements: I've also built custom shelving, headboards, and a beautiful outdoor bar for my cabin property. Saves thousands on custom furniture.

Trail running and hiking. Being outdoors for 2 hours with no phone service is the ultimate reset. Can't check Airbnb if there's no signal. 🏔️ Hosting complement: I discovered amazing local trails and restaurants through running that I now include in my digital guidebook. Guests love hyper-local recommendations from someone who actually explores the area.

Photography. Started learning to photograph my STR properties and fell in love with the craft. Now I shoot landscapes and urban scenes in my free time. Hosting complement: I do my own listing photography (saving $300/session), take seasonal update photos, and my Instagram content for my properties is genuinely good because I understand composition and lighting.

Cooking! I take cooking classes in every city I visit (which is a lot, since I travel to check on out-of-town properties). I now include a "host's favorite recipes" card in my welcome packet with 3 local dishes guests can make in the kitchen. Hosting complement: The recipe card is unique and guests LOVE it. It's been mentioned in probably 15 reviews. Cost: $1 for a laminated card. Impact: guests feel like they're getting insider local knowledge.
