The full breakdown

7 dimensions that actually decide which tool fits, based on running both on real listings.

01Pricing model: flat fee vs revenue share

It’s a tie

The maths flips at roughly $2,000/month per listing — above it PriceLabs is cheaper, below it Wheelhouse.

PriceLabs charges a flat $19.99 per listing per month in the US, UK, Canada, Europe, Australia and NZ ($9.99 in most other markets), with per-listing rates that automatically scale down as your portfolio grows. Your software cost is identical in August and January, and a high-earning listing never pays more.

Wheelhouse’s Performance plan takes 1% of booking revenue with a $2.99 monthly minimum per listing, refunded on cancellations. The crossover is simple arithmetic: a listing generating $2,000/month pays Wheelhouse about $20 — the same as PriceLabs. Below that, Wheelhouse is cheaper (a seasonal cabin earning $600/month pays $6); above it, PriceLabs wins, and for a $5,000/month beach house the difference is $30 a month, every month. Wheelhouse also offers negotiable flat plans for larger portfolios, so at scale you can make either model work.

Both scored 9/10 on value. Run your own numbers — this dimension is a calculator, not an opinion.

PriceLabs
  • $19.99/listing flat (major markets)
  • Rates scale down with portfolio size
  • 30-day free trial, no card
Wheelhouse
  • 1% of revenue, $2.99/listing minimum
  • Cancellations refunded
  • Free Insights plan for market data

02Pricing intelligence & rate quality

It’s a tie

Two different philosophies, both excellent — hyper-local data vs strategy dials.

PriceLabs’ Hyper Local Pulse algorithm prices at a genuinely hyper-local level — reacting to real-time demand, lead times, seasonality and events for your neighbourhood rather than broad market averages. With 600,000+ properties across 150+ countries feeding it, the data depth is industry-leading, and in our testing its recommendations tracked local demand spikes (a conference, a festival) noticeably fast.

Wheelhouse approaches the same problem through strategy: its “data dial” lets you choose conservative, recommended or aggressive postures, then tune pacing, risk tolerance and gap-night logic per listing or date range. Its recommendations were consistently sensible in our testing, and the strategy framing makes it easier to align pricing with how much risk you actually want. Rate quality is a tie; pick the mental model you prefer — data granularity (PriceLabs) or strategy control (Wheelhouse).

03Rate push, PMS & channel coverage

Winner: PriceLabs

PriceLabs’ perfect 15/15 and 100+ integrations are the category benchmark.

PriceLabs earned a perfect 15/15 on rate push and sync — the only pricing tool in our testing to do so. It connects directly to Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com and integrates with 100+ PMS and channel managers, so whatever stack you run, PriceLabs almost certainly pushes rates into it, quickly and accurately.

Wheelhouse scored 9/15: pushes to supported PMS platforms and major OTAs are reliable, but coverage is narrower and some advanced rules don’t translate to every integration. Before committing, check its integration list against your PMS — this is the main practical reason a host who prefers Wheelhouse ends up on PriceLabs.

04Customization & rules

Winner: PriceLabs

PriceLabs remains the deepest rule engine in dynamic pricing.

PriceLabs is famous for its control surface: base/min/max rates, date-specific overrides, last-minute and far-out adjustments, orphan-gap fills, dynamic minimum stays, seasonality profiles — all per listing or per group. If you can describe a pricing behaviour, PriceLabs can probably encode it.

Wheelhouse is no slouch (its 10/10 automation score reflects genuinely powerful pacing rules and portfolio strategies with excellent bulk editing), but its philosophy caps the toggle count in exchange for clarity. Power users hit Wheelhouse’s edges occasionally; nobody hits PriceLabs’ edges.

05Ease of use & setup

Winner: Wheelhouse

Wheelhouse’s 9/9 is the cleanest experience in the category; PriceLabs makes you earn it.

Wheelhouse scored 9/10 on usability and 9/10 on setup — the interface explains itself, the strategy dial gives beginners a safe starting point, and connecting a PMS to first rate push took us under an hour. PriceLabs scored 8/8: not difficult, but the sheer number of toggles is intimidating at first, and its own docs admit it suits data-oriented users. Set-and-forget hosts will feel at home in Wheelhouse on day one; PriceLabs rewards a weekend of learning.

06Market data & analytics

Winner: Wheelhouse

Wheelhouse’s free Insights plan is the best zero-cost market data in STR.

Both platforms include market dashboards, comp sets and portfolio analytics for paying users, and both do it well. Wheelhouse’s trump card is the Insights plan: full market dashboards, historical and forward-looking demand data and revenue analytics at $0, forever, with no rate pushes required. It’s the best free market-intelligence tool in the industry — useful even if you price with something else, and an unbeatable way to evaluate the product. PriceLabs’ market dashboards are excellent but live behind the subscription (after the generous 30-day trial).

07Support & reliability

Winner: Wheelhouse

Both rock-solid; Wheelhouse’s 9/10 support edges PriceLabs’ 8/10.

Both scored 9/10 on reliability with no missed pushes in our testing window. Wheelhouse’s support scored 9/10 — responsive, knowledgeable, and notably good at strategy questions rather than just technical ones. PriceLabs’ 8/10 support is solid with an extensive help centre, though answers to complex rule questions occasionally took a second round trip. One Wheelhouse caveat: the product is English-only and best documented for North American markets.

Which one should you choose?

Choose PriceLabs if…

  • You want a predictable flat software bill that never rises with revenue
  • Your listings earn above ~$2,000/month — the revenue-share maths favours flat fees
  • You want granular control: orphan gaps, dynamic min stays, date-level overrides
  • Your PMS or channel manager is niche — 100+ integrations means you’re covered
  • You operate internationally ($9.99/listing outside major markets)

Choose Wheelhouse if…

  • You want excellent pricing without becoming a revenue manager
  • Seasonal or lower-occupancy listings — 1% billing only costs when you earn
  • You want free market data (Insights plan) before spending anything
  • The strategy dial (conservative → aggressive) matches how you think about risk
  • You value the best-in-category support for strategy questions

The bottom line

This is the closest big matchup in our directory — 92 vs 90 — and the honest answer is that both will price your listings better than you will manually, typically lifting revenue well beyond their cost. The decision is about fit: PriceLabs is a professional instrument with every dial exposed and the industry’s best plumbing (15/15 rate push, 100+ PMS). Wheelhouse is a well-designed cockpit that makes strong pricing nearly automatic, and its free Insights plan means you can start learning your market today at zero cost.

Practical advice: check Wheelhouse’s PMS list first. If your stack is supported, trial both — PriceLabs gives you 30 days free, Wheelhouse’s market data is free forever — run them against your own calendar assumptions, and keep whichever recommendations you trust more. If your PMS isn’t on Wheelhouse’s list, PriceLabs is your answer and a very good one.
