Guesty vs Hostaway
The two heavyweight platforms professional operators actually shortlist, compared on the things that matter past 10 listings.
The polished enterprise PMS: 60+ channels, revenue tools, 24/7 guest services
The value enterprise PMS: triple-crown OTA partnerships and 100+ integrations
The quick verdict
Guesty is the stronger overall platform — it scored 95/100 in our testing against Hostaway’s 80/100, winning on polish, onboarding, ease of use and support quality. But Hostaway is the better value at scale: volume pricing drops to $20–40 per listing, its 100+ app marketplace is the industry’s largest, and it holds preferred-partner status with all three major OTAs. Pick Guesty if you want the most refined all-in-one; pick Hostaway if per-listing economics and ecosystem breadth drive your decision.
…you want the most polished, deepest all-in-one platform — smoother onboarding, built-in revenue management and optional 24/7 guest services — and will pay a premium for it.
…you want enterprise-grade scale at a lower per-listing cost, the largest integration marketplace, and 24/7 phone support — and can live with a steeper learning curve.

Score battle: rubric results side by side

The full breakdown
7 dimensions that actually decide which tool fits, based on running both on real listings.
01Pricing & value for money
Winner: HostawayNeither is cheap, but Hostaway’s volume pricing wins the spreadsheet at scale.
Both platforms go custom-quote for their real feature sets, so comparing them means comparing estimates. Guesty Pro typically lands around $45+ per listing per month plus onboarding fees; Guesty Lite offers a rare self-serve entry at $39/month for 1–3 listings. Hostaway starts around $40 per listing with a $100–500 setup fee, but its Growth tier drops to an estimated $20–40 per listing for 20–100 listings, with a 2%-of-revenue commission option for seasonal operations.
At 30 listings, that difference compounds to thousands per year. In our rubric Guesty still scored higher on value (8/10 vs 6/10) because more is genuinely built in — revenue management, accounting, guest services — reducing the third-party subscriptions you stack on top. But if you negotiate Hostaway’s volume pricing and use its marketplace selectively, Hostaway usually wins the total-cost comparison at scale.
- Lite: $39/mo self-serve entry
- Pro: est. $45+/listing
- More built in = fewer add-on subs
- Est. $20–40/listing at volume
- 2% commission option available
- $100–500 setup fee
02Ease of use & onboarding
Winner: GuestyGuesty’s 9/10 usability and guided onboarding clearly beat Hostaway’s 7/10.
This was the widest gap in our testing. Guesty scored 9/10 on ease of use and 9/10 on setup: the interface is genuinely polished for how much it manages, and the personalised onboarding with a dedicated contact makes the migration feel managed rather than endured.
Hostaway scored 7/10 and 6/10. It’s not badly designed — there’s simply a steeper climb, the 2–8 hour onboarding is denser, and more configuration is left to you. Teams that assign someone to own the platform do fine; hosts hoping to wing it will feel the difference from Guesty.
03Channel management & sync
It’s a tieBoth scored 14/15 — Guesty has more channels, Hostaway deeper OTA partnerships.
You can’t go wrong here. Guesty connects 60+ booking channels with real-time API sync — the widest distribution in the industry, covering regional OTAs and niche platforms Hostaway doesn’t reach. Hostaway counters with the “triple crown”: simultaneous preferred-partner status with Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com, which brings earlier access to new OTA features on the channels that matter most.
Both scored 14/15 on sync reliability in our rubric. If you want to list absolutely everywhere, Guesty; if 95% of your revenue comes from the big three, Hostaway’s partnership depth is arguably worth more.
04Automation & AI
It’s a tieBoth scored 9/10: Hostaway automates more messaging; Guesty can staff it for you.
Hostaway’s AI is the statistical champion — up to 93% of guest and staff messaging handled automatically once configured, with automation extending into task assignment and reviews. Guesty’s automation engine is comparably deep, and it holds a unique card: optional 24/7 professional guest services, meaning actual humans answering your guests overnight — automation by outsourcing rather than AI.
Both scored 9/10. Choose based on philosophy: maximum AI coverage (Hostaway) versus the option to take messaging off your plate entirely (Guesty).
05Scaling, teams & back office
Winner: GuestyBoth scored 9/10, but Guesty’s built-in trust accounting tips it for owner management.
Both platforms are legitimate enterprise infrastructure: granular roles, owner portals, task management, and track records with multi-hundred-listing operators (Hostaway claims support to 10,000+). Hostaway adds white-label options that agencies value.
Guesty’s edge is the back office: trust accounting, owner statements and financial reporting are built in at a depth Hostaway partially delegates to marketplace apps. If you manage for owners and your accountant has opinions, Guesty’s integrated stack is the safer choice; if you want to compose your own stack, Hostaway’s marketplace gives you more choices.
06Integrations & ecosystem
Winner: GuestyGuesty’s 200+ marketplace edges Hostaway’s 100+ — both scored a perfect 10.
Both earned 10/10 here, which almost never happens in the same category. Hostaway’s 100+ app marketplace is the largest independent ecosystem in the industry and its openness is the point — it plays well with everything. Guesty counts 200+ marketplace integrations plus its own first-party suite (PriceOptimizer, Locks Manager, damage waivers), so more needs are met without leaving the platform.
The honest framing: Guesty wants to be your everything; Hostaway wants to be your hub. Both deliver — pick the architecture you prefer.
07Support & reliability
Winner: GuestyBoth offer 24/7 support; Guesty’s account management and 99.9% uptime edge it.
Hostaway’s 24/7 phone support across six continents with 97% reported satisfaction is excellent, full stop. Guesty matches the 24/7 coverage, adds dedicated account managers on Pro and Enterprise, and posted the better reliability record in our testing — 99.9% uptime and a 9/10 trust score versus Hostaway’s 8/10, where some users report occasional OTA sync issues. Narrow win to Guesty, but neither will leave you stranded.

- You want the option of 24/7 human guest services handling your messages
- You distribute beyond the big three OTAs — 60+ channels is real reach
- You’ll pay a premium to consolidate more tools into one platform
Choose Hostaway if…
- Per-listing cost at scale is your deciding metric — volume pricing to $20–40/listing
- You want the largest integration marketplace and freedom to compose your own stack
- Triple-crown OTA partner status on Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com appeals to your distribution
- White-label options matter for your agency or brand
- Your team can absorb a steeper learning curve in exchange for lower cost
The bottom line
This is the enterprise PMS decision, and there’s no wrong answer — only a wrong fit. Guesty scored 95/100 to Hostaway’s 80/100 in our rubric, and the gap is real: it’s a more polished product with smoother onboarding, deeper built-in financials and better reliability. If software quality is your priority, Guesty is the answer.
But Hostaway’s case is economic, and at scale economics win arguments: meaningfully lower per-listing pricing, a commission option for seasonal markets, and an ecosystem that lets you buy only what you need. Demo both — they’ll both try to win you — and negotiate; these are custom-priced products, and the list price is the start of the conversation, not the end.
