The quick verdict

This one comes down to who you are. Hospitable (88/100) is the better choice for hosts who want results fast: 9/10 usability, a three-hour setup, best-in-class messaging automation and a free unlimited-property plan. OwnerRez (83/100) is the better tool for hosts who want control: a perfect 15/15 channel sync score, built-in dynamic pricing, genuine P&L and tax reporting with QuickBooks/Xero sync — behind a dated interface and a learning curve measured in weeks, at $35/month.

Choose OwnerRez if…

you want granular control over every booking rule, built-in dynamic pricing, real P&L reporting and QuickBooks/Xero sync — and you’ll invest the learning curve to get it.

Choose Hospitable if…

you want a modern interface that automates guest messaging in an afternoon — starting free — and would rather not configure a system for weeks.

The full breakdown

6 dimensions that actually decide which tool fits, based on running both on real listings.

01Pricing & value for money

Winner: Hospitable

OwnerRez’s $35 unlimited is great value; Hospitable’s free plan is better.

OwnerRez has one of the fairest pricing models in the industry: $35/month on Standard covers unlimited properties (plus small per-booking fees), $55 on Plus adds the dynamic pricing engine and financial reports, with no setup fees and no contracts. It scored 8/10 on value and would win this dimension against almost anyone.

Almost anyone except a free product. Hospitable’s Essentials plan covers unlimited properties with channel sync, unified inbox and automated messaging at $0, and its paid tiers ($29–99) stay transparent. If budget decides, Hospitable wins; but note that OwnerRez’s Plus tier bundles dynamic pricing that would cost you a separate PriceLabs subscription (~$20/listing) alongside Hospitable.

OwnerRez
  • $35/mo unlimited properties
  • Plus ($55): dynamic pricing built in
  • No contracts, no setup fees
Hospitable
  • Essentials: FREE, unlimited properties
  • Paid from $29/mo
  • Pricing tools are separate subscriptions

02Channel management & sync

Winner: OwnerRez

OwnerRez posted the only perfect 15/15 sync score in our PMS testing.

OwnerRez’s channel sync is the benchmark: a perfect 15/15 in our rubric, with granular per-channel rules (different rates, fees, minimum stays and policies per OTA) that no competitor at this price matches. If you’ve ever been burned by a double booking or wanted rule-level control over how each channel sees your property, this is why OwnerRez has a cult following.

Hospitable’s 13/15 is very good — zero double bookings in our testing across Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, Agoda and Google — it just offers less per-channel configurability. Most hosts never miss it; power users notice immediately.

03Guest messaging & automation

Winner: Hospitable

Hospitable’s 9/10 automation is easier to reach than OwnerRez’s capable 8/10.

Hospitable automates the full guest journey with excellent defaults and AI that answers routine questions — most hosts are hands-off within a day. OwnerRez’s automation (8/10) is flexible and trigger-rich once configured, but everything is configured: templates, triggers, conditions. It rewards the host who enjoys building systems and punishes the one who doesn’t.

The pattern repeats across both products: Hospitable optimises for time-to-value, OwnerRez for ceiling. On messaging specifically, Hospitable’s ceiling is also high — which makes it the win here.

04Reporting, accounting & back office

Winner: OwnerRez

P&L, tax reports and QuickBooks/Xero sync — OwnerRez is in a different league.

This is OwnerRez’s knockout dimension. Built-in P&L and tax reporting, owner statements, and native QuickBooks and Xero integrations make it the only PMS in this price range your accountant will actually compliment. Its API and webhooks (plus 5/5 data portability) let technical hosts build anything on top.

Hospitable’s back office is its known gap: owner portal and QuickBooks sync arrive only on the $99 Mogul tier, deeper accounting needs third-party tools, and data export scored 3/5. If clean books and tax season matter to how you evaluate software, OwnerRez wins by a distance.

OwnerRez
  • P&L + tax reports built in
  • QuickBooks & Xero native
  • API/webhooks, 5/5 data export
Hospitable
  • QuickBooks only on Mogul ($99)
  • Accounting needs add-on tools
  • Data export limited (3/5)

05Ease of use & setup

Winner: Hospitable

Three hours vs several weekends — Hospitable is the modern experience.

Hospitable: 9/10 usability, 8/10 setup, a polished modern interface, and a genuinely useful mobile app. OwnerRez: 7/10 and 6/10 — the interface is dated, the feature surface is enormous, the learning curve is real (budget several weekends to configure it properly), and there is no mobile app at all; you’ll manage from a browser.

OwnerRez users will tell you the climb is worth the view, and they’re not wrong. But it is a climb, and Hospitable simply doesn’t have one.

06Support & reliability

It’s a tie

Both 8/10 support and business hours; both rock-solid in testing.

Both platforms scored 8/10 on support with business-hours coverage — OwnerRez via email/ticket with famously thorough answers, Hospitable via chat and email (free-plan users get community and AI-chat support). Reliability was a 9/10 tie; neither dropped a booking or missed a sync during our testing.

Which one should you choose?

Choose OwnerRez if…

  • You want per-channel control over rates, fees, policies and minimum stays
  • Real accounting matters: P&L, tax reports, QuickBooks/Xero sync
  • You’d rather pay $55 once than stack a PMS + separate pricing tool
  • You’re technical (or thorough) and enjoy configuring systems properly
  • Data portability and API access are non-negotiable for you

Choose Hospitable if…

  • You want to start free — unlimited properties on the Essentials plan
  • You want automated messaging running the same afternoon
  • A modern interface and a real mobile app matter to your daily workflow
  • You’d rather integrate PriceLabs than learn a built-in pricing engine
  • Configuration weekends sound like a punishment, not a hobby

The bottom line

OwnerRez and Hospitable are both superb — they just define “good software” differently. Hospitable believes good software disappears: set it up in three hours, let automation run, check the app occasionally. OwnerRez believes good software obeys: every rule, rate and report exactly as you specified, with your accountant smiling in April.

Our scores (Hospitable 88, OwnerRez 83) reflect that most hosts want the first kind — and a free unlimited-property plan seals it for anyone unsure. But if you read OwnerRez’s feature list and felt excitement rather than fatigue, you’re its target user, and you’ll likely never leave. It has the most loyal user base of any PMS we’ve reviewed for a reason.
