Hostaway vs Hospitable
One is built for professional operators scaling past dozens of listings; the other automates a small portfolio for free. We tested both on real listings.
All-in-one platform with the industry’s largest marketplace, built for scaling operators
Automation-first PMS with a free unlimited-property plan
The quick verdict
Hospitable is the better pick for self-managing hosts with 1–15 properties: it starts completely free (unlimited properties on the Essentials plan), sets up in about three hours with no fees, and its guest-messaging automation is the best we’ve tested. Hostaway takes over for professional operators at roughly 15+ listings — its 100+ integration marketplace, deeper team tooling, white-label options and 24/7 phone support justify custom pricing that starts around $40 per listing with a $100–500 setup fee.
…you manage 15+ listings, want 100+ integrations, 24/7 phone support and white-label options, and don’t mind custom pricing with a sales call.
…you self-manage 1–15 properties and want best-in-class messaging automation you can start using free today, without demos or setup fees.

Score battle: rubric results side by side

The full breakdown
7 dimensions that actually decide which tool fits, based on running both on real listings.
01Pricing & value for money
Winner: HospitableFree vs a sales call with setup fees — Hospitable wins this one walking away.
Hospitable’s pricing is the friendliest in the industry: the Essentials plan (launched April 2026) is permanently free for unlimited properties, covering channel sync, the unified inbox and automated messaging. Paid tiers are transparent — Host at $29/month plus $10 per extra property, Professional at $59, Mogul at $99 — and you can be running today with no card and no fees.
Hostaway doesn’t publish prices. Expect roughly $40 per listing per month on the Starter tier with an estimated $160/month minimum, a $100–500 one-time setup fee, and a demo-led sales process before you see the product — there’s no free trial. Volume discounts (down to $20–40 per listing) and a 2%-of-revenue commission option appear at the Growth tier, which is where the economics start making sense.
In our rubric that gap shows up clearly: Hospitable scored 10/10 on value for money against Hostaway’s 6/10. Hostaway isn’t overpriced for what a 50-listing operation gets out of it — but you need that scale to justify the bill.
- ~$40/listing, $160/mo est. minimum
- $100–500 setup fee
- Volume discounts at 20+ listings
- Essentials: FREE, unlimited properties
- Host: $29/mo + $10/extra
- No setup fees, no sales call
02Guest messaging & automation
It’s a tieBoth scored 9/10 — Hospitable is easier to configure, Hostaway goes further at scale.
This is the closest category. Hospitable’s event-based automations cover the full guest journey out of the box, its AI reliably answers routine guest questions, and the defaults are good enough that most hosts are fully automated within a day. It’s the best automation-per-hour-of-setup we’ve seen.
Hostaway counters with raw power: its AI can handle up to 93% of guest and staff messaging once configured, and its automation engine extends beyond guests into staff tasks, reviews and financial workflows. The trade-off is configuration time — expect to invest hours (and the 2–8 hour onboarding) before it hums. For a small portfolio Hospitable gets you there faster; for a big one Hostaway automates more of the business.
03Channel management & sync reliability
Winner: HostawayHostaway’s triple-crown partner status and 14/15 sync score edge it.
Hostaway is the only PMS holding preferred-partner status with Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com simultaneously — the “triple crown” — which in practice means earlier access to OTA features and tighter API integrations. It scored 14/15 on channel sync in our rubric, though some users report occasional sync hiccups at the edges.
Hospitable syncs Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, Agoda Homes and Google Vacation Rentals and scored a close 13/15 — we saw zero double bookings in testing. Unless you distribute beyond the majors, both are dependable; Hostaway wins on partnership depth and channel breadth.
04Ease of use & setup
Winner: HospitableHospitable is live the same afternoon; Hostaway is a guided onboarding project.
Hospitable scored 9/10 on ease of use and 8/10 on setup — connect your channels, accept the sensible defaults, and automated messaging is running in about three hours, self-serve.
Hostaway scored 7/10 and 6/10 respectively: the interface manages far more surface area (marketplace apps, owner portals, financial reporting), onboarding is a scheduled 2–8 hour process, and there’s no trial to poke around in beforehand. That’s a reasonable cost for an operations platform — but it is a cost.
05Scaling, teams & back office
Winner: HostawayHostaway is built for 10,000-listing operators; Hospitable tops out earlier.
Hostaway scored 9/10 on team & scale for a reason: granular roles, task management, owner statements, white-label options and an architecture that genuinely serves operators from 1 to 10,000+ listings on the same platform. Its dynamic-pricing stack claims a 22.3% average revenue increase per listing, and financial reporting is enterprise-grade.
Hospitable (7/10) handles small teams well — cleaner scheduling and shared inboxes are solid, and the Mogul tier adds an owner portal with QuickBooks sync — but deeper accounting still needs third-party tools and some bulk actions slow down at larger portfolio sizes. If you manage for owners at scale, Hostaway is the safer bet.
- Owner statements + white-label
- Scales to 10,000+ listings
- Enterprise financial reporting
- Great cleaner scheduling
- Owner portal on Mogul tier
- Accounting needs add-on tools
06Integrations & ecosystem
Winner: HostawayA perfect 10/10: Hostaway’s 100+ app marketplace is the largest in the industry.
Hostaway’s marketplace is its moat — 100+ integrations spanning pricing tools, smart locks, insurance, guest screening, accounting and marketing, the largest ecosystem of any PMS we’ve tested. If a tool exists in the STR space, it probably connects to Hostaway.
Hospitable (9/10) covers what a self-managing host actually needs — PriceLabs, Wheelhouse, major smart locks, Turno — and everything we tested worked cleanly. It’s a curated toolbox versus Hostaway’s hardware store. One shared caveat: Hospitable’s data export scored just 3/5, so plan your exit strategy before you need one; Hostaway does better at 5/5.
07Support & reliability
Winner: HostawayHostaway’s 24/7 phone support beats business-hours chat.
Hostaway offers 24/7 phone support across six continents with a reported 97% satisfaction rate — rare at any price point in this industry, and genuinely valuable when a check-in goes wrong at midnight. Hospitable’s chat and email support is responsive and helpful, but keeps business hours, and free-plan users are limited to community and AI-chat support. Both platforms were reliable in our testing (8/10 and 9/10 respectively on uptime — Hospitable actually edged reliability, Hostaway had occasional OTA sync reports).

Which one should you choose?
Choose Hostaway if…
- You manage 15+ listings (or manage for owners) and need statements, roles and white-label options
- You want the industry’s biggest integration marketplace — 100+ apps
- The triple-crown OTA partnerships and earlier feature access matter to your distribution
- You value 24/7 phone support over saving on subscription costs
- You’re ready for a demo-led purchase and a proper onboarding project
Choose Hospitable if…
- You want to start free — Essentials covers unlimited properties at $0
- You self-manage 1–15 properties and messaging automation is the main job
- You want to be live today: no demo, no setup fee, ~3-hour self-serve setup
- You prefer transparent pricing you can budget without a sales call
- You’d rather pair a lean PMS with PriceLabs and a bookkeeping tool
The bottom line
Hostaway and Hospitable sit on opposite sides of the same line Guesty and Hospitable do — but Hostaway draws it at a lower price point than Guesty, with an even bigger integration marketplace. If your operation has staff, owners and dozens of listings, Hostaway’s custom pricing buys real operational depth and around-the-clock phone support.
For everyone below that line, Hospitable’s free Essentials plan has changed the calculus entirely: the core PMS features most small hosts pay for elsewhere now cost nothing. Start there; if you find yourself hiring staff and courting property owners, Hostaway is the natural next step — and its Growth-tier volume pricing will make more sense by then anyway.
